What changed in each JaMeet release.

v 0.4.8

Your DAW, sent once

October 8, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • When a music app is your Music source on a Mac, JaMeet now sends only its main stereo mix. A DAW that also sends tracks to other outputs of your interface, for outboard gear, no longer reaches the session twice.
  • In Talk Mode, music playing from other apps on your Mac is kept out of your microphone. JaMeet asks for the System Audio permission when it first opens, and tells you during a call if it is missing.
  • Talk Mode uses one microphone. Microphones you added in Music Mode wait there and come back when you switch.
  • Links in the session chat open in your browser, and a right click offers Copy and Paste.

Known limitations

  • The music app change was checked with a test interface, not yet with a real studio rig.
  • An app that plays to several devices at once still sends their combined sound.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.

v 0.4.7

Lighter on your computer during calls

September 30, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • Your camera and your shared screen are now encoded by your computer’s video chip instead of its processor, so a call with video uses much less of the processor and leaves more room for your DAW.
  • A 4K camera keeps the previous encoding, because video chips cannot encode 4K.
  • Lyric lines written inside a section stay on the page.
  • During a screen share your own video stays in line with everyone else’s.
  • Dialogs close with Escape, and the mixer can be used from the keyboard.
  • A full session now says that it holds up to four people.

Known limitations

  • The video chip encoding has been measured on one Mac and one Windows PC so far.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.

v 0.4.4

A camera background that keeps your instrument

September 27, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • On a Mac with macOS 14 or later, background blur and background pictures now keep your hands and the instrument you are holding. JaMeet uses Apple’s own person and subject detection for this. Other computers keep the previous method.
  • The edge around you follows your hair and outline more closely, on every computer.
  • A Blur Amount slider sets how strong the blur is, in Settings and in the call.
  • In lyrics, every line gets a rhyme letter, so a verse reads ABCB instead of skipping the lines that do not rhyme. Rhyming words are no longer underlined.

Known limitations

  • The new background has been tested with recorded video, not yet with a wide range of real cameras. A cushion or chair right behind you can stay visible.
  • The Windows build of 0.4.4 has not yet been run on a real Windows PC.
  • Four-person sessions have not yet been tested on four separate computers.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.
  • An invitation and approved beta account are required before starting a session.

v 0.4.3

24-bit Music by default, and camera effects

September 26, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • Between desktop apps, shared Music is now sent as uncompressed 24-bit PCM by default, in sessions of up to four. Each connection falls back to Opus on its own when it cannot carry the PCM, and guests who join from a browser receive Opus.
  • Shared Music no longer drops out when the app is briefly busy, and a limiter stops it clipping on the way out.
  • Each person’s voice is now sent in their own Talk or Music Mode. Before, a speaker in Talk Mode could be sent as Music whenever someone else was in Music Mode.
  • The camera is sharp by default: Auto now sends 1080p, and the Balanced profile no longer holds a chosen camera quality at 540p.
  • Camera effects: background blur, a built-in or your own background picture, lighting that brightens a dark face, and auto-framing. All are off by default.
  • While you share your screen you can switch to another window or display without stopping the share, and open Settings from the sharing bar.
  • Mixer effects open as windows of their own on the screen, move between slots by dragging, and can be duplicated. Effect changes made in the floating mixer are now heard.
  • In lyrics, chords follow a key change, chord chips can be dragged, and Copy Chords and Paste Chords work on a whole line. Rhyme letters now catch near rhymes.
  • Control, Option (Alt on Windows), Shift and Escape pressed together stop remote control of your screen at once.

Known limitations

  • 24-bit Music has been measured between two app instances on one computer, not yet between computers on a real network. A connection that cannot carry it stays on Opus.
  • Camera effects have not yet been tested with a wide range of real cameras, or on Windows.
  • The Windows build of 0.4.3 has not yet been run on a real Windows PC.
  • Four-person sessions have not yet been tested on four separate computers.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.
  • An invitation and approved beta account are required before starting a session.

v 0.4.2

Intel Macs, and four people in a session

September 22, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • JaMeet now runs on Intel Macs as well as Apple Silicon. There is one installer for every Mac, so you do not need to know which chip yours has.
  • A session can hold up to four people.
  • With four people, the floating video strip fits all of them, and the mini video window shows them two by two.
  • On macOS, JaMeet’s built-in audio and screen helpers are now built for macOS 12 and later (13 and later for screen sharing and computer audio). In 0.4.1 they were built for the newest macOS only.
  • Beta testers have a Discord community, linked from the account menu and from the Welcome email.

Known limitations

  • Intel Macs are new in this release and have not yet been tested on a real Intel Mac.
  • Four-person sessions have not yet been tested on four separate computers.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.
  • Music uses Opus compression; it is not lossless.
  • An invitation and approved beta account are required before starting a session.

v 0.4.1

Fixes from real three-person sessions, and a redesigned screen share

September 18, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • Your camera and microphones now open only in Sound Check, the waiting room, a call and Settings, and close everywhere else, so their indicators go dark on Home.
  • On macOS, Talk Mode now also keeps sound that other apps play through your speakers, such as a music player, out of your microphone.
  • Screen sharing was redesigned: a new source picker with sharp previews, a new sharing bar with Stop sharing and Paused, a floating video showing everyone in the call, and the song’s Studio page in a panel while you share.
  • With three people in Speaker or Focus view, your own tile stays small instead of taking half the screen.
  • The floating mixer’s meters keep moving after the mixer inside the call is closed.
  • Collaborators see your notes as you type, and Hebrew lines read right to left.
  • The call’s More menu and each participant’s menu are styled again.
  • On macOS, the request to use your computer’s audio now explains in JaMeet’s own words why it is needed.

Known limitations

  • A session holds up to three people.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.
  • Music uses Opus compression; it is not lossless.
  • An invitation and approved beta account are required before starting a session.

v 0.4.0

Remote screen control, and a redesign of everything around a session

September 16, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • A collaborator can ask for control of the screen you are sharing. You choose Allow or Deny each time, the grant covers one person and that one share, and either of you can end it at once. JaMeet sends real key presses, so DAW shortcuts work, and its own windows cannot be driven this way.
  • JaMeet keeps its own windows out of its own screen share, the floating mixer and video included. On macOS a display share that cannot exclude JaMeet is refused rather than sent anyway.
  • The Studio Mixer gained a Delay and a Reverb beside the EQ and Compressor, and every effect now opens in its own movable window instead of dimming the app.
  • Studio Sound Check was rebuilt: device and connection checks, a recorded microphone test with its waveform, who is already in the session, and “Use last setup”.
  • Every session has a name, and you can copy its invite link before you start, because JaMeet holds the code for 30 minutes. “Ask before people join” turns on a waiting room.
  • Project pages were redesigned around the song: lyrics versions, section labels, chord chips, line notes, a structure timeline ruled by the song’s tempo, notes with checklists, and the last three versions of each with Restore.
  • Rhymes and syllable counts in the lyrics margin, from a pronunciation dictionary bundled inside the app. Nothing is looked up online.
  • Adding someone to a project by username or email now sends an invitation they accept or decline from their own Home, instead of adding them outright.
  • Settings was reorganised with search, a Notifications page, rebindable session keys, a connection test that recommends a music quality, and Startup options.
  • You can download everything the server holds about your account, or delete your account, from Settings › Account.
  • Windows Computer Audio no longer captures JaMeet’s own playback, so your collaborators are not sent back to themselves.
  • Camera Mirror is now part of how you present yourself, so everyone sees you the same way round.
  • Project chats are no longer emptied when the server restarts, and the chats lost to that are restored.

Known limitations

  • Remote screen control is new. Its Windows half was exercised on a single test machine, and neither platform has been through a wide range of real hardware.
  • A session still holds up to three people. Three-participant sessions are validated between app instances on one computer, not yet across three separate computers.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.
  • Music uses Opus compression; it is not lossless.
  • An invitation and approved beta account are required before starting a session.

v 0.3.1

Private beta, for two-machine and three-participant testing

September 9, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • The Studio Mixer stays usable at the window sizes it is actually opened at, and every channel strip can be reached at the floating window’s narrowest width.
  • The floating Studio Mixer can be minimised instead of only closed, and comes back with every control as you left it.
  • The video stage now shows only the people who are in the session, instead of holding half the call open for a “Waiting for Musician” tile.

Known limitations

  • This build is for validation on real hardware. It has not been tested across two machines with audio interfaces, or with three participants on separate machines.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.
  • Music uses Opus compression; it is not lossless.
  • An invitation and approved beta account are required before starting a session.

v 0.3.0

First release with more than two people in a session

September 8, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • A session can hold up to three people. Every earlier release, 0.2.2 included, was one-to-one.
  • Each person in the call has their own camera tile, their own screen-share tile, and their own Voice and Music channels in the Studio Mixer.
  • A participant list shows who is connected, and the host can remove someone from the session.

Known limitations

  • Three-participant sessions are validated between instances on one machine, not yet across three separate machines.
  • Lossless Review and the JaMeet Remote bridge remain two-participant.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.

v 0.2.2

Private beta, for hardware testing

September 7, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • The Studio Mixer can now change a microphone input, its physical input channel, the Music source and the monitor output, from the mixer itself.
  • The floating Studio Mixer is the same mixer in its own window, with the same channels and controls, and stays in step with the one in the call.
  • Sharing your screen no longer brings the JaMeet window back on screen; the Mixer opens in its own window instead.
  • The Compressor has a new editor, and its sidechain can be keyed off any other mixer channel.
  • Your camera stays available while you share your screen, and the person you are calling stays visible.
  • Project chat keeps a bounded history and is removed with the project.

Known limitations

  • This build is for hardware testing and has not been validated on two machines with audio interfaces.
  • Uncompressed 24-bit Music can still stutter. It is off by default and does not affect normal Music.
  • Computer audio may still be heard a second time, slightly late, through the other participant.
  • The Windows beta is unsigned and does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.
  • An invitation and approved beta account are required before starting a session.

v 0.1.11

September 5, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • Sign-in refused for an unverified email address now offers a resend link that also works when signing in with a username.
  • That resend link is shown again if a later sign-in is refused for the same reason.

Known limitations

  • Accounts created before email verification was introduced must verify their address through the resend link before signing in.
  • An invitation and approved beta account are required before starting a session.
  • The Windows beta does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.
  • Music uses Opus compression; it is not lossless.

v 0.1.10

First private beta

September 5, 2026 macOS and Windows

Changes

  • Private beta installers for Apple Silicon Macs and Windows x64.
  • One-to-one video sessions with separate Voice and Music audio paths.
  • Talk Mode, Music Mode, DAW screen sharing and shared projects.

Known limitations

  • An invitation and approved beta account are required before starting a session.
  • The Windows beta does not include the JaMeet Remote audio device.
  • Music uses Opus compression; it is not lossless.
